The Newfoundland and Labrador Community Transportation Program helps communities improve transportation for people who face mobility challenges.

It supports services like on-demand rides, fixed routes, and flexible options.

The goal? Help more people get to work, school, medical appointments, and social activities—especially those in rural or underserved areas.

There are two types of funding:

Planning Projects – Up to $10,000 for designing a new or improved service.

Capital Projects – Up to $100,000 for buying vehicles or building stops and shelters.

Who is eligible for the Newfoundland and Labrador Community Transportation Program?
The program is open to community-focused groups that want to build better, more inclusive transportation services.
Eligible applicants include:
- Municipal governments
- Indigenous governing bodies
- Provincially incorporated non-profit organizations in good standing
Note: For-profit companies, individuals, and federal groups are not eligible.
Who can apply for the Newfoundland and Labrador Community Transportation Program?
Applicants should:

Be located in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Have a clear plan for their project and how it helps the community.

Include letters of support from project partners or local leaders.

For Capital Projects, include a business plan and financial forecast.
What are the conditions of the Newfoundland and Labrador Community Transportation Program?
To receive and keep funding, here’s what’s expected:

Flexible and affordable

Environmentally friendly and long-lasting

Required reporting includes:

A project summary within 12 months

Additional reports depending on the type of project

For Capital Projects, detailed data like number of trips and passengers must be tracked.

All purchases must be backed by quotes and receipts.

Funding cannot be used for:

Daily operating costs

Cancelled projects
-
Expenses before approval
