The TELUS Indigenous Communities Fund is a grant program that supports Indigenous-led initiatives. This funding supports a variety of projects including health, education, community improvement, language, and culture.
According to TELUS, “grants are available up to $50,000 and are to support Indigenous-led initiatives that support tangible positive outcomes.”
Applications are open July 4, 2022 – October 14, 2022.
In the past, organizations like the Indigenous Knowledge and Wisdom Centre and the Unamen Shipu Band Council have received support from the fund. These projects included resource kits to share an Indigenous perspective on the history of Indigenous Peoples in Alberta, as well as improvements to a community hall.
Fund Supports Indigenous Communities
Since the TELUS Indigenous Communities Fund specifically supports Indigenous initiatives, it may be relevant to communities working to improve health and wellbeing. There are different approaches they can take to make health services more accessible. These include medical transportation and mobile medical vans that bring physicians to clients, instead of requiring them to travel.
MoveMobility works with Indigenous communities and organizations to provide innovative, accessible vehicles for community medical transportation and mobile health services. Contact MoveMobility to discuss your community’s health and transportation needs.
