There are three brands of wheelchair vans that are set up the best to do a mobility type conversion. The Honda Odyssey is only available as a power side entry, the Toyota Sienna is available in both side and rear entry. The side entry is available in both a manual slide out and power ramp option. The last is the Dodge Grand Caravan. This is the most popular van as it has an attractive price point and is available for both side and rear entry. Like the Toyota Sienna, the side entry conversion is available in both a manual slide out and power ramp option.
#4 – What type of wheelchair van conversion is right for me?
Choosing the right conversion is unique to each person or organizations needs. In most cases, a rear entry conversion works well. The rear entry option is anywhere from $10,000 – $20,000 or more less expensive than a side entry van. Generally, a side entry van is needed when the person who is riding in the wheelchair van wants to drive the vehicle. When this is the case, there are added costs like a power-sliding seat and hand controls. Most people like the rear entry van. The ramp is manual which means less moving parts, and less things go wrong with the ramp. Power ramps can wear out over time and in-floor ramps can get filled with gravel if a lot of off-pavement driving happens. Side entry bi-fold ramps tend to take up a lot of room inside the cabin. This makes entry into the vehicle difficult for those sitting in the back row. As well, for the person in the chair, it can be difficult to maneuver around the ramp.
#5 – Do you do convert existing or used vehicles?

#6 – How much do your wheelchair van conversions cost?

Yes – we can ship your vehicle to you when the conversion is completed. We have shipped vehicles to customers all across the country.
#8 – How long is your rear entry wheelchair van conversion?
The rear entry van conversion is done right in our plant, conveniently located in Winnipeg, allowing us to ship the wheelchair van across the country. The ramp provides easy access with 56″ of height clearance, 91″ pan length, 31″ pan width and 23.5″ clearance between the mid row seating. An optional third row seat is available for the Dodge and Toyota as well as flip and fold seats for the mid row if a bit of extra space is needed for the chair.
#9 – Are you certified to making changes to vehicles and what type of qualifications do you have?
MoveMobility is certified by Transport Canada to make modifications to vehicles. We have our national safety mark as well as all of our vehicles are D409 compliant. The National Safety Mark is required to make modifications to vehicles. D409 certification is needed for selling vehicles that are used to transport people with physical disabilities. #10 – How long does it typically take for a rear entry conversion to be made?
A rear entry conversion typically can be ready in two weeks once the vehicle is scheduled for production. Since we do the conversions ourselves, we save time in not having to ship the wheelchair accessible vehicle away to another plant to be modified or wait on another manufacturer to have the vehicle ready.
