The Technical Writer is a key member of the MoveMobility Innovation team, whose role is to produce high-quality and comprehensive documentation that meets company standards and contributes to the overall success of our products. Collaborating with our team of Vehicle Technicians, Engineering Technologists, and usability experts to translate complex product and assembly information into simple polished, and user-friendly content that meets the needs of the target audience and sets up our users for success. Develops and maintains detailed databases of appropriate reference materials, including research, usability tests, and design specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities

•Collaborates with Vehicle Technicians and Engineering Technologists to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the assembly process •Develops and publishes Owner’s Manuals and Warranty Manuals •Produces high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience •Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with consistent and cohesive messaging across all documentation •Research, create and maintain information architecture templates that uphold organizational and legal standards, and allow for easy data migration •Writes, edits, and formats a wide range of documents, including policies, procedures, proposals, letters, manuals, training guides •Works closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), clients and stakeholders to understand complex systems, processes, or requirements and to ensure the content supports desired business outcomes •Develops and implements consistent documentation standards, templates, processes, and best practices •Establishes guidelines for document review and update cycles to keep all materials current •Drives continuous improvement in documentation by identifying opportunities for process optimization and efficiency, ensuring all materials are clear, accurate and aligned with organizational goals. •Participate within a departmental group/team framework with flexibility to capture and ensure project design quality and project contract document quality •Analyze material, write manuals, user guides, and other documents to software and electronic, mechanical, and other equipment. •Conduct research to establish factual content and to obtain necessary information •Oversee the editorial production, from idea generation to publication •Analyzing plans and diagrams to determine material and material processing specifications •Partnering with the Quality Assurance team to ensure QA requirements meet specifications

Qualifications

•Exceptional written and verbal communication skills •Motivated Self Starter with a positive attitude •Strong attention to detail •Minimum two years experience as an effective technical writer •Proven ability to learn and understand complex topics •Previous experience writing documentation and procedural materials for multiple audiences Technical Skills and Knowledge – specialized skills, knowledge and abilities needed to perform essential job functions •Highly organized •Strong attention to detail •Time management •Multitasking skills •Knowledge of provincial and federal motor vehicle safety standards an asset •Computer proficiency (MS Office)

Education

Bachelor’s degree in relevant technical field • Certification in an Automotive discipline would be an asset

Experience

Minimum two years of experience as an effective technical writer.
